Needed a Change

2 min read
I don't come on here too often anymore, but whenever I do I think "I should write a new journal" so here I am.

Since my last journal, I've started college, written and published a novel, and even made a few friends along the way.

I've also been getting really into cosplay lately, and that's probably going to be the majority of what I'm posting for a while.  Currently, I'm working on Big Sister from BioShock 2, and my next ones planned (currently, I change my mind a lot) are Gaige from Borderlands 2 (which I haven't even finished playing yet but am loving), Cecil from Welcome to Night Vale and Tooth Fairy from Rise of the Guardians.

Anyway, like I said, I don't come on as much as I used to but I still do sometimes.  I'll still be posting some stuff.  But I post most of my art/WIPs/cosplay stuff on my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/pages/Zombies…) and my Instagram (instagram.com/emmajiqrubini)

So that's it, I guess.  I don't even know if anyone is reading this?  I'll probably change it in another 9 months or whatever.

I'm Alive

1 min read
I was kind of wondering why I never get any messages or anything anymore, then I figured, it's probably because I never post anything.

My life has been really hectic lately -- what with college apps, theater, and AP Art among other things (those things being playing BioShock Infinite, mostly).  I have been doing a lot of art, actually, but I just haven't been posting it.

Anyway, it's looking pretty definite that I'll be going to School of Visual Arts in New York for college, after I finish a year at community college.

Anyway, just figured I should give you guys an update (if anyone is reading this).  Hopefully I'll find the time to post some things soon.

DRAGON*CON 2012

1 min read
Yeah, so last weekend I went to Dragon*Con and AISDGOAIUETWOUETIYUAIO.

It was amazing, as per usual. We took the laid-back approach this year, which was nice -- I only did two costumes, Fleshmaiden and Chell (I'll post pictures of both of them when I actually take good ones). I was going to be Edward Scissorhands, but it was really hot, and Chell was really comfy, so that plan just sort of fell apart. I bought a bunch of stuff, met a bunch of people, and took a bunch of pictures. It was one of the best cons so far, I believe.

Oh also. If anyone watches the Vampire Diaries I met one of the actors from that, his name was Nathaniel and he was a pretty cool dude.

Just an update.

So, I'm in Boston right now at MassArt's summer studios program. It ends this week, and it's been an amazing experience.  I've never been away from home for such a prolonged amount of time, so I was kind of nervous, but it's been awesome.  Just being around so many people who are so into art.  I've met some really great people (my roommate is pretty cool), made some pretty good art, and learned a lot. Also, we've been doing actual critiques, which is a new experience.  And Boston is really cool.  It's just been so great.  I don't want to leave.

On a lighter note, when I DO get home, though (which is in three days...sigh), I have one day and then it's back to school. On top of that, I have to finish my Fleshmaiden costume before Dragon*Con, which I'll have about ten days to do. I've been seeing a lot of Fleshmaiden costumes around the Internet lately, which is unfortunate in a really selfish way.  But there's no going back now. On the plus side, I've pretty much finished my Chell costume  Also! I'm going to Star Wars Celebration VI on the 25th.  I've never been to a Star Wars con before, so this should be fun.  I'm bringing my portal gun.

Anyway, that's it.  Thanks for putting up with my ramblings.

ASCENDIO

1 min read
Yesterday I went to Ascendio, which was a Harry Potter con in Orlando. It was wonderful. It was pretty small, but that made it more fun, in a way. Some highlights included:

-Meeting Nick and Matt Lang, Devin Lytle, and Joe Moses just walking around.  Also, saw Denise momentarily and she said Scarfy was cool.
-Nick Lang remembering me and Scarfy from LeakyCon.
-Seeing :iconskyskychan: again.
-Chris Rankin telling me and my dad that our poster costumes were awesome.

Honestly though, everything about it was amazing. We took a pretty laid-back approach this year, didn't even go to any panels or signings. But I saw some people from past years, which is always cool, and and some very nice costumes as well.

Also! On an unrelated note, my upcoming Chell costume is almost finished! I made a Frankenturret and I finished my portal gun today. I'm pretty busy though, I'm currently doing film camp for the last time and I leave for Boston in exactly a week.
